Life Coaching: Making Space to Reflect and Grow

January 8, 2026

By Jessica Hatton Cohen, Certified Life Coach

There’s a powerful shift in perspective that tends to happen as you approach your forties. You begin to have a life you can truly look back on, as well as one to look forward to.

Suddenly, there’s space to reflect on the last several years and ask yourself: What’s actually working for me? What isn’t? Are the people I spend time with lifting me up, bringing me down, or simply taking up space? Am I fulfilled in my daily work? Where could I be growing? What brings me joy, and what drains it?

These are big questions. The goal isn’t to answer them all at once, but to start making room for reflection and intention. This is the moment to focus on self-awareness and motivation. Can you give yourself ten minutes a day to journal or simply sit with one of these questions?

Think of it like cleaning out your closet. You do a little at a time to create space for what fits you now. If you ignore it, you’ll wake up one day with no room for something new and nothing to wear.

If you find yourself needing support as you navigate this kind of reflection, working with a life coach can be a valuable way to create space for both who you are now and the future version of yourself you’re working toward. Gaining clarity around your wins and losses gives you the opportunity to let go of what’s no longer serving you.

But before you can make meaningful changes, you must identify what’s working—and what isn’t.

Ready to feel lighter, clearer, and more confident? Let’s talk!
